Kermesse training

I’m off to Belgium again soon to ride another Kermesse so here is a workout I did on Friday to prepare:

Warm up

Find a safe, flat bit of road (I stress, safe).

Step 1: Sprint out of the saddle as fast as you can, sit down and keep going as fast as you can for about 30 seconds.

Step 2: Freewheel for 10 seconds, (when safe) brake a bit down to about 15 mph to simulate slowing for a tight corner.

Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 above for 30 minutes but regret starting this workout after 2 minutes.

Step 4: Feel sick for 28 minutes

Step 5: Cool down on ride home

Step 6: Let damaged lungs recover

Step 7: Get fit

Step 8: Repeat (noooooooooooooo!)
