Weather – dry
Ground conditions – dry but with 1 muddy section which I ran each time to save the bike.
Starting position on grid – front row
Finish – 8th (booooo!)
Excuses:
- Tired legs from hard few weeks.
- Lots of contact on the start sprint resulting in front wheel coming loose and needing re-tightening.
- Did I mention tired legs?
- Puncture on final lap necessitating descending from the top to bottom of Hog Hill on a rim (ouch!) then running all the way back up again (even more ouch!). Lost 2-3 places due to that puncture.
Pleased that I made it to the finish line still in the top ten but disappointed in my form on the day. Still, learnt loads, had a hard workout, and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere between all my fellow competitors both before, during and after the race.
Next round for me in 2 weeks time…
